An ancient music instrument, a ”standing bell”, invented over 3000 years ago in Himalayas. Usually made of 7 metals. They produce cosmic sounds and strong vibrations that have strong relaxing, but at the same time activating effect, waking some deep trance state brain activity. Used for sound healing therapies, house cleansing and meditation.
These singing bowls, when struck on the side or made to sing, produce multiphonic and polyharmonic sounds which are unique, complex, subtle and healing.
Vibroacoustic therapy (VAT)
What is it: There are many different techniques - contact methods and sound bath with 7 or 4 singing bowls.
Niina suggests to try first full body massage with full moon singing bowl and hot water technique. It is contact method technique when singing bowl will be placed on person's body and gradually move all the way
Duration: It takes at least 2 hours: 1.5 hour massage with singing bowls, 20 min preparation and 10 min tea and after massage chat/consultation.
Place: usually at clients' home, in the living room. On the two blankets on te floor (to stay grounded).
What to wear: Clients need to wear a t-shirt and shorts or trousers, that are made of natural fabric like cotton or something similar, and have no zips or buttons.
More about VAT:
VAT uses the energy of musical sound waves applied directly to the body to produce physiological and psychological effects. Sound therapy research has shown that different sound pulses stimulate different brainwave centers. Further, nerve bundles in our spine transmit vibrational sensory data to our brain stem and limbic system (emotional processing center). The vibrational signature of the Himalayan Bowls activates the relaxation response, naturally supporting disease fighting immune cells while reducing the stress response. Less mental and emotional stress in the body reduces pain, too. When placed on or near the body, the sound vibrations are transmitted directly into muscles, blood, organs, tissues, and cellular memory. Thus, the body’s natural healing potential is optimized through sound vibration.
